It comes down to two simple differences: how it's made—and what goes into it.

At Cool Chimp Soap, every batch is made by hand using the traditional cold process method. We make small batches, mix every ingredient ourselves, pour each loaf by hand, cut every bar, and let it cure for several weeks before it's ready to use. It's not the fastest way to make soap—but we think it's the best.

We also use natural oils, butters, clays, botanicals, and essential or fragrance oils that typically cost more than the lower-cost ingredients often used in mass-produced soaps. Quality ingredients simply come with a higher price tag, but we believe they're worth it.

Mass-produced soaps are designed to be made as quickly and cheaply as possible. They're manufactured on a huge scale using highly automated equipment, allowing companies to produce thousands of bars in the time it takes us to make one small batch. Buying ingredients in enormous quantities also helps keep their costs down.
